Mighty Tip

Tahini is made from sesame seeds and can often be a great alternative in recipes for nut butters!

Yes, you read that right! “Peppermint Mocha Hummus” because you really can’t get enough of this flavor combo during the holiday season. I am a huge fan of mint and chocolate, BUT if you totally disagree feel free to simply omit the peppermint extract from the recipe below! It will still make a delicious dessert hummus!

Ingredients

  • 1 can of chickpeas, rinsed

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup tahini

  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Directions

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas.

  2. Boil the chickpeas for 20 minutes with the baking soda.

  3. Drain the chickpeas.

  4. Add chickpeas, cocoa powder, tahini, maple syrup, and sea salt to blender or food processor and blend until creamy. You may need to stop and scrape the sides with a spatula occasionally.

  5. Serve! I recommend pretzels, graham crackers, or even Nilla wafers! Refrigerate extra in an airtight container.

I can’t wait to see how you serve this holiday dessert/appetizer! Enjoy!
