Chocolate Banana Bread

Mighty Tip

Applesauce can often be used as a swap for butter or oil. This can reduce the amount of calories from fat in a recipe!


Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas

  • 1/2 cup applesauce

  • 1/2 cup almond milk

  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 1/2 cup flour

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips + a handful for topping (I recommend dark chocolate!)

    • Can be made vegan if you use vegan chocolate chips!

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Mash the bananas in a large bowl.

  3. Add all the wet ingredients to the bowl and mix.

  4. Add all of the dry ingredients (except chocolate chips) to the bowl. Mix ONLY until it’s almost completely combined.

  5. Add the chocolate chips. Finish mixing just until it’s completely combined. (Over mixing can cause the batter not to rise well).

  6. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Start checking around 30-35 minutes. Let it cool and enjoy!
